Family News

November 2006

In November we went away for a few days of family vacation. We decided to take the family to the scenic area of South Africa that Nancy and I first saw on our survey trip five years ago. T he journey to this area East of Johannesburg took about four hours. So imagine our surprise when we arrived at the lodge and immediately saw a pastor friend from Johannesburg! We worked in a breakfast with them, and have planned a Thanksgiving Dinner together (He is a South African, but his wife is an American). He just took a pastorate in the area two months ago, and so we enjoyed encouraging each other in the Lord.
We enjoyed just doing family things each day, and showing the kids the geographical sites. We even found the rock Nancy and I stood on five years ago for our African Deputation video. Yeah, the huge rock that is right on the edge of the shear cliff drop thousands of meters into the Blyde River Canyon. At least, I thought we stood on the rock??? Now that I look at the pictures I see that we stood "near" the rock. Sorry, honey for insisting that we "had" to stand on the rock again.
All in all we had a very enjoyable time together. I would call it a Deut 6:7 vacation.
