Family News

May 2005

Crack! Many times you hear elephants well before you see elephants. In April we enjoyed an opportunity to spend a day off with our coworkers - the Graham family - at the nearby Pilanesberg Game Reserve. There we saw several large herds of elephant, rhinos, and other African animals. We also had our first opportunity to see the destructive power of an elephant as it tore apart a tree. The sounds of cracking wood was incredible! After seeing what it takes to prepare just one meal we understood why many game reserves must control the elephant populations lest there be no more game reserve!
