April 2006

Our youngest, Benjamin, is a budding artist in the field of Military Dioramas. These are basically still scenes of soldiers, vehicles, and the surrounding terrain. I think Benjamin got the idea for his artwork from seeing other dioramas in the States several years ago. Beyond that, he has come up with everything needed to create these scenes. Dad gave him some Rubbermaid containers, which are laid on their side, and Ben did the rest. Benjamin says, "In my winter diorama I used flour for snow and in the European diorama I used pieces of shrub for trees and bushes." Ben informs me that the "two displays with dirt" represent Normandy in 1944 and both feature the German 716th Infantry Division
